In the interest of transparency, I am quoting these pieces from my speech and video interview. Some quarters have been using, or indirectly quoting these statements, and circulating them in social media.
I understand that I offended members of the LGBT community. For that, I sincerely regret my poor choice of words. It does not reflect my personal position in protecting, and promoting gender equality, and the struggle against discrimination.
I am also apologizing to KAISA - Nagkakaisang Iskolar para sa Pamantasan at Sambayanan, to my partymates, and particularly to Alex Sixwillfix Castro who is a strong and passionate advocate for LGBT rights.- USC Chairperson Candidate SHAINA SANTIAGO
